what is a line (continued)

This is the kinda of thing i wanna go for on the what is a line brief, big white board, big black pen and some good music and see what happens. Spoke to Ben before and he seemed keen on the idea of a co-lab i reckon one individual board and one board done together should look pretty swish and give these kids a run for there money.....

End of module Evaluation Design Process

1. What practical skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

During this module i have developed skills in researching and categorizing this information to use it to its fully potential i have also learnt that this way of working is much more efficient and has more meaning. I have also gained skills in using indesign and book design/binding but really do need to improve on these.

2. What approaches to/methods of problem solving have you developed and how have they informed your design and development process?

I have found that when designing you really do need some sort of problem to work to otherwise your work becomes meaningless. this was not something i learned/developed until my final outcome was resolved. From now on i would like my work to really push what it need to and to do this i need to improve on my problem solving development.

3. what strengths can you identify in your work and how will/you capitalize on these?

I feel my strengths are pretty much always my resolutions and actual aesthetics. To capitalize on this i shall start to use more mediums materials and methods to make the outcome's have a better finish.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these more fully?

I feel that my weaknesses fell under the theory of my work and actual basic concepts. i shall address this by spending longer on the ideas and theory before producing final ideas. i also felt that my time management was also a weakness. Using my time correctly will help me keep me happy which in turn will help me produce better work. I shall address this problems by setting time tabled session's to help me break up and produce work in a non stress environment.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?

1. Produce my design work with meaning and understand of the problem i have and not just to depend on the final look of my design to gain attention.

2. Learn to use my time better and not get distracted as much, from doing this, like i said before my work should improve as i will have more time to work and less time to stress and put off work.

3. Organize and produce more research using different methods(five hat rack system). This will help me achieve (1.)

4. Address my attendance, although i have not attended as much as i would of liked, i do feel i have participated more this module but still need to break my habit of not attending.

5. Try and mix up my approach to design as a whole using a different style, mediums and methods again this will hopefully help me achieve new exciting results which will inspire future work.

DISLO CATION

Ok so yes again i have i have managed to pop my shoulder out my socket for a second time in two months.(not cool) This time it wriggled its way out whilst i was havin a good old dance to Felix Da House Cat and my home boys Ocelot at Fabric's sister club Matter in the famous O2 dome in London. Probably not the suvenior i wanted but i thought this was a pretty good way to record x-rays rather than the old massive sheets.

Nokia line advert

another thing that was discussed in my crit today this is kinda what im wanna go for with what is a line work!

This Is Amazing (thanks ian)

So browsing through the blogs of our year groups(after feeling the burn of hard work) I came to Ian's blogs. This hotel is absolutely amazing! The main one i like is 'exstacy room' 206 by WK interact.

the hotel is in Copenhagen, Denmark this just totally adds to my keeness to visit scandinavia and europe this summer!!!!!

Oi boy book

this a final year project my friend did at lincon collage of art and design. Started to look at his work for what is a line because i know his line drawings tend to look abit like mine and have a similar design. The above photo also gave me ideas about doing something on a larger scale.

big ups to chris his work is sick so check it.

Emil Kozak what is a line

Again another artist was mention in my crit this stuff again really excited me and gave me some fresh to think about. Also made me think about skateboards. i used to dream about design graphics for deck i suppose i lost the dream when i lost the interest to skate anymore and started riding bmx. Im super keen to buy some blank decks and use for my what is a line brief.

Kozy'n'Dan'n'What is a line

the drawing of the headphones reminds me off the left handed drawings i have been producing at the moment for my book 100 project.
a particular favorite

After my what is a line crit,i got given a few ideas and artists to go get inspiration from. After looking at this site and there illustration it has given me a massive boost of ideas for my what is a line brief. I definitely what to keep on this style of illustration but here are the main ideas im going to focus on.

  • Colour (adding to my original style of illustration)
  • Ricta scale readings
  • Scale ( big paper for big things small paper for small things maybe even installation)
  • Medium (rather than using just the pens i already have)
I shall investigate further using the above ideas.

here are a few of the illustrations that i have found inspirational.

Panned Left

This is a sample of the left handed drawing Im doing for my book. Im getting used to drawing with my left hand now and its paying off. It's a completely different style to my right hand which tends to be thick stroked and bubbly, as where my left hand tends to have a feebleness to it and more delicate feel. It's also surprising how much better my perspective seems to be compared to my right hand. Something worth thinking about when it comes to drawing in the future and also gives me a double whammy off drawing styles! Perhaps i should start drawing with my toes?hmmmmm?

recent work and more books and magazine's

just a few better photo's of the book below and some of my work sheets for what is a book.
Really like this book below its basically a book full of inspiration full of case studies on briefs, type and illustration. The cover is made out of a leather material with embossment's of logo's. nice way of putting a image on to a surface rather than just ink, something to think about for sure.

there is also some pics of some 'info graphics' i saw in idn super nice stuff something i wanna really get into! big up will on his book project check it out!
