I also started looking into the 'soundsystem' culture where a found more images which really caught my eye. I have a massive interest in this music anyway but have never really looked in to the visual side of it. I think this could start to influence my work, i really like the b and white photo's as there grainy and give of a ruff/muffled/fuzzy/warm look which is very similar to the sound of the music represented.
I saw a interview with loefah on the net talking about his new label 'Swap 81' . Swamp was the operation that the metropolitan police in forced to be able to stop and search anyone and arrest of suspicion . This is how he Brixton riots started, any way i found it quite interesting. I started to look at photo's of the riot's in the 1980's, the photo's show so much and bring out the real emotion of what was going on at the time. I think these photo's could work really well as prints.
Check out a film called 'babylon' as well it was on film 4 during the summer again about a group of young lads who owned a sound system in west london and had to put up with the crap that the thatcherete 80's had.
I was'nt born when this was happening but would of been interested to see what it was like, it just made me think that it could end up like this again with the number of job cut backs and lack of employment out there at the moment etc.
